After trump's presidential win last november, he is now tasked in choosing new people for his new cabinet. The choice he made for his Educational secretary position was also one. He pick ended up being Betsy DeVos. I did some research on her and what she wanted to do for the educational system. What I ended up finding was that she lacked the experience needed to be able to successfully maintain her position. I'm not saying she will horribly fail, but I do have some doubt about her. What didn't help was that some republicans who are suppose to be on her “side,” ended up opposing her as the Education Secretary. The Vice President Mike Pence had to come in and break the tie and make her the new Educational secretary. Betsy Devos never attended the k-12 schooling system as a child, which she would lack the experience. She also has no experience working student-loan programs. She also supports having having guns in school to protect kids from  potential “grizzlies.” I would disagree with that statement because guns shouldn't be anywhere near schools. They could be hazardous to the well being of school kids. We just have to wait and see what Betsy DeVos accomplishes during her time as the country's Educational Secretary. We should all hope that she succeeds in making our education a better place to learn. But as I said before many people do have their doubts about her lack of experience in being the Educational Secretary.

  1. Although I do much have to say about the content in your blog, let's just hope that Betsy DeVos has advisers with experiences in the public square rather than private to help her make sound decisions. All the best to Betsy DeVos and President Trump.

  2. One misconception many people have is that Charter schools reduce the cost of our educational budgets but this is not true. Many Charter schools are still government funded, and because they are often ran without the same degree of oversight they are run poorly. That's not to say they don't have benefits, but they are not the solution many assume. I believe it was Vice did a nice piece of Charter schools last year.
